ABOUT

From an early age, Kyle Lawson was mentored by esteemed New Zealand cornetist Kevin Jarrett and quickly emerged as one of the most gifted young brass musicians of his generation.  His early achievement's include multiple national titles, among them the New Zealand Junior Champion of Champions (2010), NZ Cornet Champion (2013,2015 & 2016), and Australian open Cornet (2015)

A member of the New Zealand Army Band since 2012, Kyle has performed on the international stage at high profile events including Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee (London), the Basil Tattoo (Switzerland), and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

 

 In 2015, he was appointment Principal Cornet of the renowned Brighouse and Rastrick brass band, a position he held again during his studies at the University of Salford (2018 - 2020), where he graduated with First Class Honours.

 

 Kyle continues to benefit from the mentorship and guidance of renowned conductor and educator Professor David King, whose support has been instrumental in Kyle's ongoing development and success. He gratefully acknowledges the enduring support of New Zealand arts patron Dame Adrienne Stewart.
